I officially had my students start working on their grade level Wiki. It took two days of social studies/science time, but my students have finally begun to master how to use Wiki's. In two days they have already taught themselves how to change the background color and how to use smiley faces. I am excited to see how they will continue to grow in their wiki skills.
Unfortunatly, not everyone in my class is able to wiki? How do I continue to help my struggling students without losing anymore instructional time?

Wow, you are wiki-ing? I'm so jealous! And with 2nd graders? I am in awe!
ReplyDeleteAre the kids that are struggling all having the same issues? Like language? or lack of access? Or are the problems all over the place?
Is there a trt or an aide that can jump in and help? An older student or a parent?
Sometimes there may be, I think, a time when some kids just aren't going to get it this go round, but you've planted a seed.
There are very few problems. The only problems I am having is that only one person can edit a page at a time and that some of my students are just too slow to complete an entry in the allotted time. However, this is going amazingly well!
ReplyDeleteI can see this being a problem at first, but not as much as you go along. As the students add more and more to the wiki, there will be portions where more pages could be added, allowing more to work at once. Congrats on your success so far!
